ok i guess it's time to update. i kept delaying myself to update, coz after working like mad for 10 straight days... i became real lazy after that. last day of work was tiring but fun, of coz every one of us were so highly motivated to work.. so excited to get over and done with this meaningless job. but on the whole, the staff were cool and the person in charge was really very nice, and in terms of job expectations, i couldn't have asked for more. cherlie came to exchange cd-rs and sherry came on the last day.. AGAIN. i duno if she is some guest of honour for the bookfest or something, coz she came on both the first and the last days. somewhat like doing the opening and closing of the bookfest.
anyway, our company is rather dumb. they were selling a 4gb micro hard drive during the book fest. the cost? $295! sure, they claim it to be the smallest hard drive in the world (it's the size of the lock on ur gate).. but if u know the market prices of computer parts, u can get a MINI EXTERNAL HARD DRIVE for only $200 and enjoy a storage space of 80gb-200gb! of coz the size will be jus a little bit bigger, but 200gb compared to 4 gb?! and the 4gb one is $95 more. haha. but the problem with our company was that they spent too much money trying to make that damn thing smaller, and since the cost of production is high, they must sell it at a high price. we displayed 5 micro hard drives in our glass cabinet, and every1 was wondering which idiot would spend so much money buying it. our person in charge told us that any1 who manages to sell one will get a free bk meal... his treat of coz.
but then on sunday, there was this guy looking for a 2gb thumbdrive. however it was sold out. our 2gb thumbdrive only costs $195 during the fair, with a usual price of $275. this guy was so desperate to buy a 2gb thumbdrive. so DERRICK WENT TO CON HIM! derrick told him that our thumbdrive has a usual price of $275, and if he jus adds $20 more, he can enjoy double the storage space with our 4gb micro hard drive. the guy was so delighted. normally when i see ppl happy i will be happy, but now when i saw the guy smiling so happily, i actually felt very sad for him. coz with the same amount of money, he could have gotten himself a 200gb external hard drive, and he jus got cheated. actually he didn't really get cheated la, rick seriously used a very clever marketing strategy, and it's jus that the customer dun really know abt market prices of storage devices. see what happens when u do not have perfect info of the market? haha anyway every1 gathered at the cashier to see him pay, and we were trying super duper hard not to laugh, but in our heads we were trying to tell him: 'U R AN IDIOT!' after paying he was so damn happy, but of coz derrick was happier coz he got a free bk meal.
ok so work's over, and im jus waiting for sch to reopen..for now, i will jus wait for my pay and SLACK!
